Yes, it is mplayer. And it is pretty much command line, and it is much much powerful then the wrapper GUI front end.
I have not master this great movie player, I just have use it to watch a french movie, which the english subtitle I obtained do not sync at all. If you face this, no worries, because with mplayer, you can forward or backward the subtitle by pressing your keyboard. For me I still enjoy the movie which I would not enjoy so much if I have no subtitle.
Okay to use mplayer to play a movie is easy, with fullscreen , add in -fs
mplayer A-la-folie-pas-du-tout.avi -fs
It will open fullscreen, to toggle back to smaller screen, press f
To go rewind/forward the movie slowly, press arrow key Left or Right.
To do it more faster, press arrow key Up or Down.
To pause, press spacebar.
To go to next subtitle, press y to go back to previous subtitle, press g
Okay, another thing, the default subtitle is so huge, I can adjust the font size, not in realtime, but during execution.
mplayer A-la-folie-pas-du-tout.avi -fs -subfont-text-scale 3
Scale it with subfont-text-scale, I find 3 is just nice for me.
More feature, refers to man!
