If you are light weight windows manager user which depend on certain desktop such as kde, gnome, sometimes you want to know what is the command that call a particular program that you usually click with your mouse in kde/gnome, so that you can run it in console or trigger with key mapping.

You can get some infomation using xprop that help you to guess the command name. Xprop is use to display the properties of a GUI program. Just type

It will turns to a special mouse pointer, and click on the GUI programs that you are interested to check. Usually you will get the command name near WM_CLASS or WM_NAME. xprop support grep too, you can pass your grep command through pipe.
